  - From the beginning it was inevitable. The Hedz were a highly developed, alien civilization, experts in transmutation, while humans were still in their primordial diapers.
    
    Back on the home planet everyone was equal and looked the same. That, in essence, was the problem! And then it happened! What started as an accident resulted when an intrepid explorer penetrating the decapitated head of an unsuspecting human victim. It felt nice! After a while, he realized he could assume the powers of the previous owner, through brain to brain contact. What began as a misadventure, became a ruthless attack on the innocent of the universe.
    
    At first it was just a few enthusiasts - big spender, frontier guys, experimenting with time travel; twanging the strings of the space/time continuum and causing grief wherever they materialized. Then, before too long, hoards of Hedz were plundering Earth's civilizations for human heads. A special preservation technique was formulated to convert the trophies into what they dubbed as "Hedware". Head collecting became the latest craze... But the craze turned nasty! Theft and violence over ownership became widespread. Suddenly, every Hed wanted trophies! Not just something to hang on the wall, but a living piece of history to wear and show off. Hedz society was in turmoil! Then one lone Hed spoke up. The suggestion... to legitimize the whole head-hunting phenomena - make it their national sport. And so it was decided!
    
    HEAD * EXTREME * DESTRUCTION * ZONE was born!
    
    The nearby asteroid belt, the Nappa Flux, was selected as the arena. Each asteroid was designed to represent an Earth-like environment. The rules were simple: Each Hed could choose five trophies to take onto the asteroid and use the powers inherent in the Hedware to engage in battle. The chance to capture their opponent's heads would be the ultimate prize.
    
    Needless to say, the response was overwhelming...
